Information about the crime

In November 2024, we received a report about an unmarked Jewish war grave near the village of Trzebieszów, where members of a Jewish family from Trzebieszów were buried. The burial site is said to be located in a forest belonging to a family that hid the Jewish family during the war. Allegedly, the descendants of the Polish family still light candles at the grave on November 1st.

According to the information we collected, the former parish priest of the Church of the Ten Thousand Martyrs in Trzebieszów at one point appealed to parishioners to provide information about this grave.

A survey conducted by the Regional Commission for the Examination of German Crimes in Lublin states very generally that in 1943, during a mass execution in Trzebieszów, the German military police murdered 50 people, Jews and Russians.
